       Michael S. Phelps, D.D.S
 


Dr. Phelps attended the University of California, Santa Barbara receiving his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Zoology in 1982. He began his dental training at the USC School of Dentistry in 1982 and received his DDS degree in 1986. At USC, Dr. Phelps received several awards and was elected into the Dental Honor Fraternity, OKU.

Dr. Phelps received his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Certificate from the LAC-USC Medical Center in 1990. His training was based out of this hospital and the USC School of Dentistry and included extensive training in Dental Implantology, Jaw Reconstructive and Orthognatic Surgery, Maxillofacial Trauma (fractures and soft tissue repairs of all the bones of the face), and Maxillofacial Pathology.

In 1990, Dr. Phelps moved to Sacramento to practice Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. During the summer of 1991 he opened his Elk Grove office shortly thereafter opened an office in Sacramento on Scripps Drive. Dr. Kane, his partner, and Dr. Johnson merged into a 3 doctor group practice in the year 2000 and the Scripps Dr. location was closed. The Sacramento location is now located in a beautiful and spacious facility on Marconi Ave.

Dr. Phelps is an active member of the American Dental Association, Sacramento Dental Society, the California, American, and Northern California Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the International College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the Southern California Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

Dr. Phelps is the past Chair of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery/Dental Section at Sutter General Hospital and is currently on the staff of Mercy General Hospital for those patients requiring hospital care.

       Loche M. Johnson, D.D.S
 
Dr. Johnson was born in Walnut Creek, California. Dr. Johnson attended the University of California, Davis, where he majored in Biological Sciences. He obtained his dental doctorate training at UCLA. At UCLA he scored in the top 2-3 percent in both Part 1 and Part 11 of the National Boards. He also received honors from the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and American College of Pathology.

Dr. Johnson received his oral and maxillofacial surgery training at UCLA Medical Center. His field of training included reconstructive surgery, TMJ surgery, and oral and facial implantology. In addition, Dr. Johnson had additional training at Stanford University in the surgical management for patients suffering from obstructive sleep apnea. Dr. Johnson has recently joined a crainofacial and cleft palate team, which travels to Mexico to perform much-needed surgery for the under privileged. Dr. Johnson has lectured extensively on the topics of TMJ surgery and obstructive sleep apnea.

Dr. Johnson is a Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. He is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Society, California Dental Society, California Pathology Society, and American Cleft Palate and Crainofacial Association.

Dr. Johnson is an active individual who participates in endurance training. He enjoys the outdoors, camping, hunting, and fishing. He is committed to his practice and to delivering excellent patient care.

           Dr. Christopher J. Kane
 
Dr. Christopher J. Kane attended Tulane University and received his undergraduate degree in Biology. Afterwards, Dr. Kane served his country with time spent in the US Navy and US Marine Corps. Dr. Kane then attended Baylor University School of Dentistry and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1990. In the summer of 1990, Dr. Kane started his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training at the LAC-USC Medical Center. This training gave Dr. Kane extensive experience in major Maxillofacial Trauma, Pathology, Jaw Reconstruction and Anesthesia. After completing his training at USC, Dr. Kane joined Dr. Phelps in private practice. The American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery certified Dr. Kane in 1997.

Dr. Kane has special interest in Cleft Palate treatment and is actively involved in the Cleft Palate Panel at Sutter Community Hospitals. He routinely cares for those patients who require his expertise in this area.

Dr. Kane is an expert at the placement of Dental Implants, having experience with multiple systems.

As the Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Mercy General Hospital, Dr. Kane has a very active hospital practice and is an active staff member at both Mercy General Hospital and Sutter Community Hospitals.
